December 31, 2009 - "ONLY DEATH IS REAL" HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST BOOK AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER:
Bazillion Points Press Release:
Bazillion Points Books is very proud to announce that pre-orders will be accepted beginning January 1, 2010 for the massive hardcover book "Only Death Is Real: An Illustrated History of Hellhammer and Early Celtic Frost," by Tom Gabriel Fischer with Martin Eric Ain. These books will ship worldwide in March 2010. For more information and to place orders, visit: Bazillion Points Books.
This formidable oversized high-quality hardcover runs 288 pages (including a 32-page color section), and combines hundreds of unseen early Hellhammer and Celtic Frost photos with a vast treasure trove of artwork and memorabilia. A substantial written component by Fischer details his upbringing on the outskirts of Zurich, Switzerland, and the hardships and triumphs he faced bringing his groundbreaking bands Hellhammer and eventually Celtic Frost to reality. In addition, the book includes an introduction by Nocturno Culto of Norwegian black metal act Darkthrone, and a foreword by noted British author Joel McIver.
Significantly, the pre-order date of January 1 marks the anniversary of the first Hellhammer photo session in 1983, and also kicks off a new year which will bring the debut release by Fischer's new band Triptykon, along with his much-anticipated featured role as guest curator at Holland's respected Roadburn Festival.
According to Fischer: "The earliest existing photos of Hellhammer were taken exactly 27 years ago, on January 1, 1983. At that date, I found myself at the dawn of a new period in my life, much as I do today. On that first day of 1983, we in Hellhammer conducted the first proper photo session as a band, at the tiny farm village of Birchwil, Switzerland. The year that had just begun would also see the recording sessions and release of Hellhammer's three demo cassettes, possibly the most important and enduring aspect of Hellhammer's legacy."
"Now, on this first day of 2010, I am yet again embarking on a new stage of the path that is my life. I am once more part of a new group, Triptykon, and this year will see the release of our first album, 'Eparistera Daimones'. It is coincidental, but no less significant, that this release will be preceded by the publication of 'Only Death Is Real', the book chronicling the very beginning of this path."
Says Bazillion Points publisher Ian Christe: "There is no question that this book goes farther than any other source in exploring the origins of underground heavy metal. The wealth of visual information is astounding, both in terms of documenting early 1980s headbangers and exposing the still-relevant imagery of the first Hellhammer and Celtic Frost photo sessions over 20 years ago. On top of that, the written chapters combine Tom Fischer's vivid stories with lengthy quotes from Martin Eric Ain and the other main Hellhammer members, all explaining in highly personal terms how and why extreme metal was born. I could not be prouder to play a role in making this remarkable book a reality."
States Fischer: "This is a book about the real Hellhammer, the essence of that group, the aura it carried, and the truly unique spirit of revolution of the times in which it existed. It is a book about a group of outcasts—about persistence, dedication, and an utterly personal vision. I have worked very hard to make sure it will do justice to the work of a number of very unique people who shared the same ideas at a very unique point in time."

Triptykon, the group formed by former Hellhammer/Celtic Frost singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tom Gabriel Warrior, is proud to announce that the group's own label, Prowling Death Records Ltd., has entered into a licensing agreement with renowned metal giant Century Media Records.
Under the agreement, Century Media Records will release Triptykon's massive debut album, Eparistera Daimones, in Europe andNorth America on March 22, 2010.
Eparistera Daimones was produced by Tom Gabriel Warrior and Triptykon guitarist V. Santura and recorded in V. Santura's ownWoodshed Studio in southern Germany, in the course of the second half of 2009. Like Celtic Frost's universally praisedMonotheist album, Eparistera Daimones was mastered by Walter Schmid at Oakland Recording in Winterthur, Switzerland.Eparistera Daimones is said to be heavier than Monotheist - dark, daring, and very diverse.
Tom Gabriel Warrior: "I am very pleased about continuing my long-standing and very constructive affiliation with Century Media Records. After the demise of Celtic Frost, I was looking for continuity in every other aspect of my life, and the cooperation between Prowling Death Records Ltd. and Century Media Records has in the past already provided an outstanding platform for releases by Hellhammer (the Demon Entrails demo reissue album, 2008) and Celtic Frost (Monotheist, 2006)."
Eparistera Daimones will feature the following nine songs, at a playing time of some 70 minutes:
2. Abyss Within My Soul
3. In Shrouds Decayed
5. A Thousand Lies
7. Myopic Empire
8. My Pain
9. The Prolonging
A further three new Triptykon songs have also been recorded, and they, too, will be released in the course of 2010.
The album will be further distinguished by stunning artwork from two highly acclaimed international artists, who, together with the group themselves, thus form their own artistic triptych.
Triptykon consists of V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard (drums, percussion), Vanja Slajh (bass), and Tom Gabriel Warrior (voice, guitars). The group has unambiguously stated that it pursues the continuation and further development of the path Warrior began in Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. The group’s onstage debut is scheduled to take place as part of the distinguishedRoadburn Festival, on April 16, 2010.
Triptykon is managed by Antje Lange (email@example.com).

December 6, 2009 - TOM GABRIEL WARRIOR ANNOUNCES THE FURTHER BANDS FOR "ONLY DEATH IS REAL" EVENT AT ROADBURN 2010:
Roadburn Press Release:
Tom Gabriel Warrior, the founder of Swiss pioneers Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and nowTriptykon has announced further confirmed acts to appear at his curated event, titled "Only Death Is Real", appearing at Roadburn Festival 2010 in Tilburg, Netherlands on Friday, April 16th.
The following are a list of the confirmed artists (along with Thorr's Hammer, Witchfynde, andTrinacria) each of which were handpicked by Tom, and following are their comments about being selected:
"Of course, it is an honour for jesu to be personally invited by Tom G. Warrior to perform at his individually curated 'Only Death Is Real' event at Roadburn 2010. It goes without saying, that the music of Tom G. Warrior has had an immense impact on the music, I, Justin K Broadrick, have been producing since 1985, in all of my guises, be it Napalm Death in the eighties, Godflesh in the eighties and nineties, and Jesu currently..." - J K Broadrick
"It's truly an honor to be invited to play at Tom Gabriel Warrior's 'Only Death is Real' at Roadburn 2010. Tom G Warrior's playing, as well as his work in Celtic Frost and Hellhammer are not only a staple in the metal world, but one of our main influences and reasons why Evoken exists today. When we started Evoken, never in our dark imaginations would we have thought this day would EVER come. To be invited by our main influence in metal, who all will agree is one of the most well-respected and talented individuals... Tom Gabriel Warrior. We accept this dark gift in complete honor. We shall deliver nothing less than uncompromising, soul-crushing heaviness that Evoken can only bring forth... Be Warned!" - Vince, Evoken
"The call from Tom G Warrior to join him at Roadburn came as a complete and utter surprise to Al and I as we had not the slightest inclination we would be asked. Recognition from one musician to another to us is one of the highest accolades we can think of and so would like to say thanks to Tom for asking us. Pagan Altar as a band are really up for it and looking forward to playing at Tom’s 'Only Death Is Real' show and are indeed proud to share a stage with these guys!" - Alan & Terry Jones, Pagan Altar
"We met Tom and Triptykon bass player Vanja in Switzerland before a Valborg concert and had some really great conversations. So it was indeed a very special honour that we got invited by Tom to play at the Roadburn 2010. In the midst of irrelevance, Tom G. Warrior gave us more confidence to go ahead on the path we chose. We are still fans and he is the master of extreme metal. So, we will slay the world to pieces at the Roadburn Festival to honour his almighty work. Be prepared motherfuckers! Feel the aggression rise!" - Christian, Valborg
"We were speechless, but extremely honoured and humbled when we got the invitation by Tom to perform at the next edition of Roadburn. Celtic Frost and Hellhammer had such an important impact on us that it inspired us to pick up our guitars many years ago. Now we find ourselves being invited to Roadburn, by the very creator of this music himself. We can't wait to head back to the stages of the 013 venue! Our appearance at the festival will also give us the opportunity to present our new album 'Raised By Wolves' to the world." - Fred, Serpentcult
"Tom always supported us to continue in our chosen musical way -we feel very honored and happy about his invitation to Roadburn 2010, and having the possibility to contribute some evil witch doom to this unique event –a dream came true, and we’re ready to give all we have for this show!" - Nadine, Shever
"We are very honored to be part of this festival, and this special night. I have been into Celtic Frost since I was 13. I had just started playing guitar, and they were my first contact with non-tonal music - a fact that had far-reaching consequences, since life took me to become a contemporary composer. Celtic Frost's approach to their lyrics also made a mark on us all; their taking the listener into rotten evil worlds while maintaining a high level of dignity made 90% of metal bands look like embarrassing adolescents in my young eyes, and they set the bar high in the black sonic arts for everyone who came after.
When V Santura joined them as touring guitarist, that was the biggest thing ever to happen in the music scene of our home town... it seems unreal that now, so many years after, the mighty Tom G. Warrior tells us he's into our little band. So when The Warrior calls, there can only be one answer from us and that's 'yes Sir, with pleasure'!" - Morean, Noneuclid
In addition, Tom Gabriel Warrior will introduce his new incarnation, Triptykon, who will make their on-stage debut at Roadburn 2010 in the headlining slot in support of their forthcoming album, tentatively titled "Eparistera Daimones". It's needless to say that we at Roadburn are thrilled by Tom's additions to Roadburn 2010.
The four-day Roadburn Festival will be held once again at the esteemed 013 venue, and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland from Thursday, April 15th through Sunday, April 18th, 2010.

October 21, 2009 - TOM GABRIEL FISCHER FEATURED IN "THE SECRET HISTORY OF...BLACK METAL":
England's Terrorizer magazine has launched what is likely to become a separate quarterly specialist publication to complement the main magazine. The first issue, published in September 2009, is dedicated to "The Secret History Of... Black Metal". The 96-page magazine features various references to Hellhammer and Celtic Frost as well as a dedicated interview withHellhammer/Celtic Frost/Triptykon guitarist/singer Tom Gabriel Fischer. A sidebar in the feature assesses the most significant Hellhammer and Celtic Frost releases, rating Celtic Frost's "Monotheist" album of 2006 as "Arguably, the metal album of the decade. [...] This is darkness".
September 22, 2009 - THORR'S HAMMER REUNION CONFIRMED FOR TOM WARRIOR'S "ONLY DEATH IS REAL" AT NEXT YEARS ROADBURN FESTIVAL:
Roadburn Press Release:
The recently reunited Thorr's Hammer will be playing Tom Gabriel Warrior's Only Death Is Real at Roadburn 2010, set to be held on Friday, April 16th.
Having witnessed some downright incredible events in music this year, the recent Thorr's Hammer reunion gigs at Birmingham's own Supersonic Festival and London were among the absolute highlights. For the first time in 15 years, Thorr's Hammer treated audiences to live renditions of their monolithic, gut-wrenching, black-doom, originally created in the mammoth stoned winter of 1994-1995.
Personally invited by Tom Gabriel Warrior, Thorr's Hammer, comprised of Stephen O'Malley (Sunn 0))), Guitar), Greg Anderson (Sunn 0))), Guitar), Jamie Sykes (Drums), long time cohort Guy Pinhas (The Obsessed / Goatsnake, Bass) and original vocalist Runhild Gammelsæter, will be playing their first ever show on the European mainland at Tom's Roadburn curated event, Only Death is Real.
Tom Gabriel Warrior comments: "I am excited and very happy as a fan and I feel proud and honored as a curator that Thorr's Hammer have accepted my invitation and have agreed to play next year's Roadburn festival. I greatly respect Stephen O'Malley both as a peer and a friend, and I have long regarded Thorr's Hammer as pioneers in their field. Having them at Roadburn is a true privilege."
Runhild Gammelsæter comments: "I speak on behalf of all members of Thorr's Hammer when I tell of the speechlessness, the thrill going down my back, upon the news that we have been invited by Tom Gabriel Warrior to play the Roadburn festival. Not in my wildest dreams as a teenage girl listening to Celtic Frost and playing doom in Seattle did I imagine that Thorr's Hammer would be appreciated 15 years later. We are awed of the recognition of our music and thrilled to have this opportunity. It is such a joy for us to play together again, and we look forward to share that joy with the audience. We are very thankful to our fans, old and new, and we are very excited to perform at Roadburn."
Stephen O'Malley comments: "With respect and honor Thorr's Hammer accepts Tom Gabriel Warrior's invitation to perform at his Only Death Is Real night at Roadburn 2010. TGW's guitar playing, Hellhammer and early Celtic Frost were essential to the collaborative musical directions Greg Anderson and I were forging in the early days of making music together, and we remain faithful servants to this day. Even more essentially, TH was certainly a HH acolyte in the beginning, our direction nearly one of an attempt toward simulation of that acts primal aggressive modes. We are both proud and humbled to be the guest of one of our metal mentors, and to be given the first opportunity to play the original 1994 demo "Dommedagsnatt" material in it's entirety on the European continent for the very first time."
Totally living up to the expectations surrounding this highly anticipated reunion, it's needless to say that we at Roadburn are very pleased with the addition of Thorr's Hammer, alongside headliner Triptykon to the line-up of Only Death Is Real.
Roadburn 2010, including Tom Gabriel Warrior's Only Death Is Real, the Goatsnake reunion and Candlemass' 25th anniversary show, will run for three days from Thursday, April 15 to Saturday, April 17 at both the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional Afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, 2010.

August 5, 2009 - FIRST TRIPTYKON PRESS RELEASE:
As Celtic Frost arose from Hellhammer's ashes,

Triptykon, the group formed by Tom Gabriel Warrior after his departure from Celtic Frost in April of 2008, is scheduled to commence studio recording sessions for a first album in mid-August 2009. The album, tentatively titled Eparistera Daimones, will mainly be recorded in southern Germany, with additional recording sessions to take place in Switzerland. Produced by Warrior and Triptykon guitarist V. Santura, the recording and mixing sessions are expected to continue until November 2009. The album is currently scheduled for release in spring of 2010, through the group?s own label, Prowling Death Records (home ofHellhammer and Celtic Frost).
Triptykon was created specifically to continue and further evolve the darkness invoked by its immediate precursors, seminal black/extreme metal pioneers Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. Accordingly, Triptykon's first album is a persistent development of the virulent and towering musical darkness perpetuated not only by Warrior's early work but also within his extensive contributions to Celtic Frost's highly acclaimed Monotheist album. As expected, a significant part of the music on the album consists of material written by Warrior during the past few years and originally intended for Monotheist's successor. This is balanced by new, original music written by Warrior and Santura since Triptykon's inception.
Although the group has so far proceeded in virtual concealment, the music for Eparistera Daimones has been described as akin to a bleak, black ocean of heaviness, accentuated by moments of unexpected grace. Songs currently under consideration for inclusion on Triptykon's debut album are, among others, "Myopic Empire", "Among Veiled Spirits", "Sepultus", "Abyss Within My Soul", "Goetia", "A Thousand Lies", and the 17-minute "The Prolonging".
Triptykon will follow the release of Eparistera Daimones with a number of festival appearances and a full tour. The group?s onstage debut is scheduled to take place as part of the renowned Roadburn Festival, in April 2010.
Triptykon are managed by Antje Lange (firstname.lastname@example.org).

July 29, 2009 - DARKTHRONE'S NOCTURNO CULTO PENS INTRODUCTION TO HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST ILLUSTRATED HISTORY:
Former Hellhammer/Celtic Frost and current Triptykon frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer and Bazillion Points Books are deeply honored to announce that Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone has written an introduction to Fischer's upcoming 288-page hardcover book "Only Death Is Real: An Illustrated History of Hellhammer and Early Celtic Frost 1981-1985."
Nocturno Culto states: "The moment I got the question if I would write these lines, I was struck by a sensation of true joy. This joy soon transformed to utter fear because I knew, from the bottom of my soul, what impact Hellhammer/Celtic Frost has had on so many people and the development of a darker metal scene."
"Only Death Is Real" is due to be published in November 2009, the culmination of four years of research, writing, and design. All of the former main members of Hellhammer - Steve Warrior, Bruce Day, Martin Eric Ain, and Stephen Priestly - have contributed to this project, along with primary original Hellhammer/Celtic Frost photographers Martin Kyburz, Andreas Schwarber, andCsaba Kézér.
According to Fischer: "This is a book about the real Hellhammer, the essence of that group, the aura it carried, and the truly unique spirit of revolution of the times in which it existed. It is a book about a group of outcasts - about persistence, dedication, and an utterly personal vision. I have worked very hard to make sure it will do justice to the work of a number of very unique people who shared the same ideas at a very unique point in time."

July 22, 2009 - TOM GABRIEL WARRIOR NAMED AS CURATOR FOR ROADBURN 2010:
Roadburn Press Release:
Roadburn is very pleased to announce that Tom Gabriel Warrior, founder of the illustriousHellhammer and Celtic Frost, has agreed to act as the curator for our festival on Friday, April 16th 2010, and host a special event at Roadburn, called Only Death Is Real.
Tom's duties as curator include personally selecting the bands that will play on Only Death Is Real, as well as to perform the first major headlining set with his latest incarnation, Triptykon. Tom will beRoadburn?s third curator, following up on David Tibet in 2008 and Neurosis earlier this year, and we would call his election a perfectly natural progression.
We are overjoyed to have secured Tom's involvement in Roadburn this year, as he stands as a truly groundbreaking artist, with his previous bands having been extremely divisive, as is often the case with truly unique and original works of art. Ultimately his canon of work would prove not only legendary but hugely inspirational for an entire generation of musicians in the metal, doom and dark psychedelic scenes.
Tom has always enjoyed pushing the envelope musically and challenging boundaries, and it was entirely that mindset that made him a perfect fit to act as our curator. It has been a constant goal of ours to keep Roadburn a festival that not only celebrates the established but charts new territory, and we could think of no better spirit guide than Tom Gabriel Warrior. We are looking forward to the new ideas that he will bring to our festival, as we feel that we are truly kindred spirits.
Tom Gabriel Warrior: "It is a surprise and an honor to be asked by Roadburn to act as a curator, and I am accepting this extraordinary opportunity with much gratitude and due humility. In my eyes,Roadburn is one of the most courageous and artistic festivals in existence, and its history is, in essence, a list of concerts by groups I deeply admire. It is quite a challenge to follow such footsteps, both as a curator and as a musician. I will try my very best to ensure that the groups I intend to propose to the organizers of Roadburn will be as ravishingly dark, unique, and exciting to the festival's visitors as they are to me."
Holland's very own Roadburn Festival has become Europe's leading underground festival for psychedelic, avant-garde, doom or any other variation of leftfield sonic pleasures that push the boundaries of music.
In addition to the music, Roadburn has earned a reputation as having a unique camaraderie between the festivalgoers, bands, organizers and staff, and ranks as one of the best and most laid-back festivals to be experienced.
Roadburn 2010, including Tom Gabriel Warrior's Only Death Is Real, will run for three days from Thursday, April 15 to Saturday, April 17 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, 2010.
Please check www.triptykon.net & www.roadburn.com for updates.
